Elephant Ear

the foggy-eyed youth have a gleam in their eye
they are tearing the skin off my knees
they sing "i am the way into the city of woe"
i try to fake asleep
you flash by my door like a blue-lit ghost
i was laying on my back
i sing "i should have slept outside last night
under a cool expansive sky"
in the shell of this body i'm animal i'm dead
with my feathery skin and my leathery head
then fall upon my neck warm air
sniff out a scrap of food i've saved to share
you pulled a blanket up over around me
you kissed my head i went to bed
took off in flight, one feather shed

Nothing is Mine
02:16

i'm poured out like water
i can see through my hand
my eyes are quickened
i'm staring at the fatty land
nothing is mine
i finally heard a cloud
a bell ringing dull and loudly
i leaned back and looked up
i got tree sap in my hair
nothing is mine
there are highways of veins running across your feet and hands
there's 100 years of fire burning underground
there are mounds of dirt and rock welcoming me back again
nothing is mine
but i've got my eyes clenched
i'm remembering to let go
of everything in time
nothing is mine

i'm in the air i'm on the ground i slid across the street on my bare feet i'm looking for something i've lost my wallet and some clean socks i'm saying a prayer i'm saying a prayer to make me stay to keep me free to let me go really let me go my friends' souls are glowing thin and grey see-through holes i don't see them much anymore a stare in my face my rat fink face wise old rat brave old rat i'm growing apart just like the tree i'll keep you with me keep your feet warm keep your arch high keep your neck long keep your eyes wide don't miss one flea don't miss one inch don't miss me ever i'm on the ground i'll keep you with me

Hollow
02:00
|
|||
i quit my job i ran away i joined a pride of lions
oh but i had not forgotten
my face grew coarse my muscles wild
i learned to hunt my prey
oh but i did not forget
our voices sound so noble
within the rumblings of our chests
it's hollow
but it makes a good sound
i quit my job i ran away and now i run so fast
i'm tracking every creeping beast alive
my instinct and my reflexes keep me in my pride
oh i have dreams where i remember
i remember
